about

What’s it like to feel no emotion? That’s the tagline to a short documentary titled Alexithymia by award winning director Duncan Cowles.

The film won Best UK Short Film Award 2017 at the Open City Documentary Festival, London and was officially selected by 8 different film festivals in 2017 and 2018. Duncan questions how he connects to his emotions, by talking to a stranger online who can’t feel any. This stranger suffers from ‘Alexithymia’, which is a condition most simply described as ‘Emotional Blindness’, it’s the inability to identify and describe emotions in the self.

The Alexithymia EP, from Stillhead is a deep, ambient EP built around the tracks created for this documentary. Included are 3 tracks direct from the film, one track which didn’t make the final cut and another track produced as a companion to the main theme.

about

Brightest Dark Place Edinburgh, UK

The hazy, blurred overlap between techno and ambient, the dubby fringes of deep house and melancholy bass music or the closing gap which separates drum and bass from dub-techno, it’s all within our Brightest Dark Place.
